PROGRAMMING
Asking Questions and Identifying Goals
Programming is the starting line for most design projects. During this phase we gather information regarding client goals and space functionality. This information is analyzed to help clients understand the type, size, and quantity of spaces they need. We can also help to determine future space requirements to ensure that the current space will be sufficient to support a growing company. Once data is compiled it is entered into a programming document that helps to synthesize and quantify the information collected.
SCHEMATIC DESIGN
Translating and Defining Information
This is the part of the process where the fun begins! During the schematic design phase information that is collected during programming is translated into preliminary design concepts. An initial plan will be developed and budget and scope will be refined. Finish material ideas will be discussed to establish the overall creative direction. This phase will include a design collaboration session where we dream about how your space could look and function.
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
Refining and Progressing the Design
Once we’ve received feedback from the client as part of the schematic design phase, we will begin to build on the approved concepts and dive deeper into the details. At this point a single path forward has been defined, but elements need to be developed. We begin to finalize material selections, lighting and millwork design. Detailed plan drawings and elevations are provided for client review and approval. Clients will have a clear picture of what their space will look like. 3D renderings could be included as part of this phase.
CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS
Providing Documentation for Final Design
All of the decisions have been made and now it’s time to execute! The plans created during this phase could include demolition, floor and reflected ceiling plans. They will also include sections, elevations and other detailed information required for construction and permitting. The drawings will be reviewed and coordinated with mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineers, if applicable.
CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION
Building Process Where Design Comes to Life
For many designers and clients, this is the most exciting step in the process. After the drawings are bid, a contractor is selected, and the permits are approved, the dust starts to fly! We will attend on site meetings to confirm that the space is being constructed in accordance with the construction drawings. We will also answer general contractor’s questions and review product and material submittals.
FURNITURE + ART
Finishing Touches that Provide Personality and Warmth
The furniture and art selection on a project can take the overall aesthetic from good to great. Many spaces don’t feel complete without these details that add additional character. We will coordinate with furniture and art consultants, makers and artists to provide a cohesive design aesthetic that is sensitive to brand, budget, and schedule. Let us help you elevate your space!
